Lafayette County, Mississippi \u2014 The community of Abbeville is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Chloe Johnson, 19, of Abbeville, Mississippi<\/strong>, who was pronounced dead following a devastating single-vehicle crash on County Road 103 on August 14, 2026. Her passenger, Zoe Johnson, 19, also of Abbeville<\/strong>, survived the crash and remains in critical but stable condition.<\/p>\n According to the Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Office, deputies received a 911 call at approximately 4:07 p.m. reporting a single-vehicle accident near the intersection of County Road 104. When deputies arrived, they found the vehicle on the east side of County Road 103 with both occupants inside.<\/p>\n Deputies immediately worked to remove Chloe and Zoe from the vehicle. Their efforts became even more urgent when the vehicle began catching fire. Both occupants were successfully extracted before emergency crews arrived. The Lafayette County Fire Department and Baptist EMS responded and provided emergency medical assistance.<\/p>\n Despite the efforts of first responders, Chloe was pronounced deceased at the scene by Lafayette County Coroner Glenn Coleman. Zoe was transported by Hospital Wing to Region One Medical Center in Memphis, Tennessee, where she is receiving treatment.<\/p>\n The circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation by the Lafayette County Sheriff\u2019s Office Criminal Investigation Division. Authorities said the crash involved only one vehicle, and no foul play is suspected at this time.<\/p>\n Chloe\u2019s passing has left her family, friends, and community facing an unimaginable loss. At just 19 years old, she had a lifetime of possibilities ahead of her.
