In loving memory of Corey Shetler of Dillonvale, a 29-year-old man whose life was tragically cut short following a serious crash in Smithfield Township, Jefferson County, Ohio. Corey was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the collision and sadly succumbed to his injuries at approximately 9:38 p.m. Sunday.<\/p>\n

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol\u2019s Steubenville Post, the crash occurred around 8:22 p.m. on County Road 10, approximately 0.2 miles west of State Route 152. Investigators said a Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling westbound and approaching a right-hand curve when a Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound failed to negotiate a left curve.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Silverado reportedly left the roadway, overcorrected, crossed the centerline and entered the opposite lane. The right side of the pickup then struck the right-front portion of the Cavalier. The Silverado continued off the roadway into a ditch, while the Cavalier remained in the westbound lane and partially off the road.<\/p>\n

Authorities identified alcohol as a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.<\/p>\n

Corey\u2019s passing is a heartbreaking loss for his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. Behind every tragic accident is a person whose life mattered, whose presence brought memories and whose absence leaves an irreplaceable void.<\/p>\n
