With profound sadness, we remember 52-year-old Robert L. Peterkin of Tickfaw, whose life was tragically cut short in a devastating crash on August 16, 2026, in Tangipahoa Parish, Louisiana. Peterkin was riding a motorized bicycle when he was struck by a Nissan Sentra on U.S. Highway 51 near Old Genessee Road.<\/p>\n

According to the preliminary investigation by Louisiana State Police Troop L, the crash occurred at approximately 11:30 p.m. Peterkin and his motorized bicycle were reportedly lying in the roadway, partially within the northbound lane, when a 2019 Nissan Sentra traveling north struck him. The circumstances that led to Peterkin and the bicycle being in the roadway remain under investigation.<\/p>\n

Peterkin sustained critical injuries in the collision and sadly died at the scene. Authorities reported that he was wearing dark-colored clothing and was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash. The driver of the Nissan, who was properly restrained, was not injured.<\/p>\n
