Wasson, a veteran Richmond County Sheriff\u2019s Office deputy, tragically lost his life Wednesday morning in a head-on crash on Washington Road in Augusta, Georgia, while driving his daughter to school.<\/p>\n

For many years, Wasson served with commitment and courage, including as a member of the Sheriff\u2019s Office Motorcycle Division. His career began with the Richmond County Sheriff\u2019s Office in February 2008, and throughout his years of service, he demonstrated the bravery and determination expected of an officer devoted to protecting others.<\/p>\n

His contributions were recognized in 2013 after he and another deputy responded to a burglary in progress and helped arrest suspects while protecting a homeowner who was hiding inside the residence. His quick actions reflected the courage that became a defining part of his career.<\/p>\n

Wasson also faced personal challenges during his years of service, surviving serious motorcycle crashes in 2018 and 2020 before continuing his recovery and returning to duty.<\/p>\n
