Ian Frye, 49, of Christine, North Dakota, lost his life in a devastating crash allegedly involving 19-year-old Cornelio Christian Vasquez IV, a Grand Forks man accused of fleeing a traffic stop at 109 mph before his BMW slammed into Frye\u2019s Honda Accord. Frye, a husband and father of four, was reportedly driving home from his recording studio when the violent collision occurred early Sunday, August 23, leaving his family facing an unimaginable loss.<\/p>\n
According to the North Dakota State Patrol, a trooper attempted to stop Vasquez after allegedly observing him traveling 109 mph in a 55-mph zone near Cass County Road 14 and County Road 81. Authorities say Vasquez did not stop, turned off his headlights and ran a stop sign before crashing into Frye\u2019s vehicle.<\/p>\n
Frye died at the scene from injuries sustained in the collision. His death has left behind a grieving family and loved ones struggling to understand how an ordinary trip home could end in such profound tragedy.<\/p>\n
Vasquez and two juvenile passengers, ages 16 and 17, were also injured and taken to a Fargo hospital with injuries described as non-life-threatening. Authorities said all three occupants of the BMW were wearing seat belts.<\/p>\n
Vasquez was later arrested and faces multiple charges, including homicide while fleeing a peace officer, manslaughter, fleeing a peace officer in a vehicle resulting in risk of death or serious bodily injury, reckless endangerment and reckless driving.<\/p>\n
