Mayor Darren Bryant Survives Deadly Bar Shooting, Robbins Community Mourns a Life Lost.

Robbins Mayor Darren Bryant is being remembered with gratitude and concern after a deadly shooting at Harold’s Chicken Ice Bar over the weekend left him wounded and another man dead. The overnight shooting happened near 137th Street and South Claire Boulevard, where Robbins Police and Cook County Sheriff’s officers responded to reports of multiple people being shot.

Authorities said Mayor Bryant, 34, was at the establishment getting food and celebrating a Robbins resident’s birthday when gunfire erupted. He suffered a graze wound to his back and was transported to a hospital for treatment. A disc jockey at the bar was also grazed. Both victims were treated and later released in good condition.

The person authorities identified as the gunman, 29-year-old Marquelle Rose, was reportedly masked when he entered the bar and opened fire. A contracted security guard intervened and fired at Rose, who was struck multiple times and later pronounced dead.

While the incident has left the community shaken, residents are thankful that Mayor Bryant survived the terrifying encounter. His presence at the gathering was meant to be a simple moment of celebration, but it quickly became a scene of fear and tragedy.

The death of Rose remains part of the ongoing investigation, while authorities continue working to establish the full circumstances surrounding the shooting.

May everyone affected by this heartbreaking incident find strength and comfort during this difficult time. We also extend our thoughts to Mayor Darren Bryant, the injured DJ, their families, and everyone who witnessed the violence. May the Robbins community continue to stand together in remembrance, healing, and hope.
