In Loving Memory of Haylan Engdahl and Brayden Rogers, Milligan University Cycling Team Mourns Two Beloved Students.
With profound sadness, we remember Haylan Engdahl and Brayden Rogers, two Milligan University sophomores whose lives were tragically cut short in a devastating crash Wednesday morning in Carter County, Tennessee. Both students were members of the Milligan University cycling team and were riding with a group of fellow cyclists in Hampton when the heartbreaking incident occurred.
The crash happened around 9:30 a.m. on Highway 19 near Simerly Creek Road. According to authorities, a vehicle collided with the group of bicyclists, leaving two people dead and several others seriously injured. Multiple medical helicopters responded to the scene as emergency crews worked to assist those affected.
Haylan and Brayden will be remembered not only as talented student-athletes, but also as young people who were part of a close university community. Their passion for cycling brought them together with teammates and friends, creating memories that will remain cherished by those who knew and loved them.
Several other Milligan students were seriously injured in the crash and were transported to Johnson City Medical Center for treatment. Their recovery is now being closely followed by family, friends, teammates, and the wider Milligan community.
The Tennessee Highway Patrol continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.
