In Loving Memory of Austin Tyler Knutson, A Life Remembered With Love.

The community of Rice Lake, Wisconsin, is mourning the loss of Austin Tyler Knutson, 30, who died following a tragic two-vehicle crash on U.S. Highway 63 in Washburn County on Wednesday, August 19, 2026. His passing has left family, friends, and loved ones facing a heartbreaking loss that came far too soon.

According to the Wisconsin State Patrol, the crash happened at approximately 7:03 a.m. near County Road J. Austin was driving a 2001 Buick Park Avenue northbound when his vehicle struck the rear of a 2024 Freightliner Day Cab that had stopped while preparing to turn west onto County Road J. Austin had to be extricated from the vehicle, and despite efforts to provide aid, he was pronounced deceased at the scene.

The truck driver, Nicolas Christopher Smith, 36, of White Bear Lake, Minnesota, was not injured. Authorities reported that both drivers were wearing their seatbelts and that alcohol was not involved.

Behind the details of this devastating accident was a human life filled with memories, relationships, hopes, and moments shared with those who cared deeply for Austin. While the circumstances of his passing are painful, his life deserves to be remembered with compassion and love.
