The passing of Karoline Heintz an 18-year-old PennWest California student and promising soccer player, has left her family, friends, classmates, teammates, and community mourning a life that ended far too soon. Karoline was found deceased inside her parked vehicle near the California Borough Library on Wood Street shortly after midnight Thursday, according to authorities.
Earlier that day, Karoline had spent time with her family before making her way back toward campus housing at Pennsylvania Western University California. When she did not check in as expected, her family became concerned and used her location to find her vehicle. They contacted 911, and authorities discovered her inside. Her death is now being investigated by the Washington County Coroner’s Office and Pennsylvania State Police.
Karoline was remembered as a young woman with a bright future. She had continued her education at PennWest California after signing National Letters of Intent to play soccer, reflecting her dedication, determination, and love for the sport.
