Authorities are investigating two unrelated deaths in Summit County involving 34-year-old Ceaira Cook of Akron and 24-year-old Raheem Heard of Akron, two names now being remembered as their families and communities face unimaginable grief.
Ceaira Cook, a Summa Health employee, lost her life following a heartbreaking workplace accident at Summa Health Barberton Hospital. Authorities said she was leaving work when she was struck by a linen truck backing through a docking area. Although she was taken to the emergency department and received medical attention, her injuries proved fatal. A life that began like any other day ended in a tragedy no one could have expected.
In a separate and deeply disturbing incident, Raheem Heard’s life came to an end at Summit Lake. A fisherman discovered his body in the water and alerted emergency responders. Authorities later determined that Heard died from multiple stab wounds, and his death is being investigated as a homicide.
