In Loving Memory of Andrew Haden, A Life of Service, Integrity, and Light.
With heavy hearts, we remember Andrew Haden, 48, a respected federal prosecutor whose life was devoted to public service, justice, and his community. Haden was found deceased Wednesday inside the Edward J. Schwartz Federal Building in San Diego, hours after he had been reported missing. Authorities said there was no indication of foul play, while the official cause and manner of death remain pending the Medical Examiner’s determination.
Andrew Haden joined the U.S. Attorney’s Office in 2010 and went on to serve twice as acting U.S. attorney for the Southern District of California. During two leadership transitions, in 2023 and 2025, he stepped into the office’s highest position, reflecting the trust and respect he had earned throughout his career.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Haden will be remembered for the warmth and character he brought to the people around him. U.S. Attorney Adam Gordon described his passing as one of the darkest days in the office’s history while emphasizing that there was nothing dark about Haden’s life. He remembered Andrew as a beacon of light, filled with laughter, friendship, integrity, and an unwavering commitment to serving others.
As colleagues, friends, and loved ones mourn this heartbreaking loss, Andrew Haden’s legacy will live on through the people he inspired and the work he dedicated his life to. His years of service made a meaningful difference, and his memory will remain a source of comfort and pride to those who knew him.
