A Life Remembered With Love, Honoring Michael Vicars After a Tragic Hit-and-Run.

With hearts heavy with sorrow, family, friends, and all who knew him are mourning the heartbreaking loss of Michael Vicars, 45, of Kingsport, Tennessee, whose life came to a sudden and devastating end in a fatal hit-and-run crash in Scott County, Virginia. Michael’s passing has left behind a painful silence and a profound sense of loss for those who loved and cared for him.

According to Virginia State Police, the tragedy occurred sometime between approximately 3 a.m. and 4 a.m. on August 24, 2026, in the 2900 block of Bristol Highway. Investigators say Michael was walking in the eastbound lane of traffic when he was struck by a vehicle. Sadly, he died at the scene from injuries sustained in the crash.

What makes this loss even more heartbreaking is that the vehicle involved did not remain at the scene. As loved ones grieve, investigators continue working to understand exactly what happened and identify the driver responsible.

Michael’s life was far more than the circumstances surrounding his final moments. He was a son, a friend, a loved one, and a person whose presence mattered to those fortunate enough to know him. Though words can never fully ease the pain of such a sudden loss, his memory will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.

Virginia State Police are asking anyone who witnessed the crash or has information about the vehicle or circumstances to come forward. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact Virginia State Police Division Four Dispatch at (540) 444-7788 or email questions@vsp.virginia.gov.

May Michael Vicars be remembered with love, dignity, and compassion. May he rest in eternal peace, and may his loved ones find strength and comfort in the memories they shared. Rest in peace, Michael.
