The heartbreaking crash happened at approximately 5:45 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, at the intersection of Arapaho Road and the East Frontage Road of North Central Expressway. Richardson Police officers responded to reports of a collision involving a motorcycle and a passenger vehicle.

According to the preliminary investigation, both vehicles were traveling northbound on the frontage road near Arapaho Road. Police said the motorcycle attempted to travel straight through the intersection from an inside left-turn-only lane when it struck the driver’s side of a vehicle that was turning left to travel west on Arapaho Road.

The force of the collision caused the motorcycle to strike a traffic signal pole, ejecting Smith from the motorcycle. Richardson Fire Department paramedics transported him to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased. The driver of the passenger vehicle was not injured.

The Richardson Police Department’s Special Crash Investigation Team responded to the scene and continues to investigate the circumstances surrounding the tragic collision.
