A Life Gone Too Soon, A Memory That Will Never Fade.
Julius Tanksley, 29, of Ocala, was tragically killed Wednesday morning on County Road 200A, while Matthew Boardman, 29, of Marion County, was identified by the Florida Highway Patrol as the driver who allegedly struck him before leaving the scene. Julius was walking along the east shoulder near NE 110th Street when a silver Ford Explorer traveled off the roadway and struck him. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
According to authorities, Boardman left after the crash but returned approximately an hour later in the damaged vehicle. Investigators say he admitted to driving the Explorer and leaving the scene. He was subsequently charged with leaving the scene of a crash involving a death.
But beyond the details of an investigation is a human life that has been painfully taken away. Julius was someone who mattered, someone whose presence meant something to the people who knew him. His life held memories, conversations, laughter, and moments that can never simply be replaced.
A heartfelt tribute shared after his death captured the disbelief surrounding the tragedy: “RIP Julius Tanksley… this shit is crazy man… I’m sitting here thinking about all the times we had bruh… this shit just can’t be real.”
Sometimes a life disappears in a single heartbreaking moment, leaving behind memories that become even more precious with every passing day.
