🕊️💔 Angelina Sharlese Archuleta, 22, of Midland, Texas, was tragically killed Thursday afternoon, September 10, in a devastating two-vehicle crash at the Interstate 20 eastbound service road and Loop 250. In a moment that no family could ever have imagined, a young life filled with possibilities came to an unexpected end.

Angelina was only 22 — still so young, with countless dreams ahead and so many chapters of life yet to be written. At an age when tomorrow should have been filled with hope, laughter, plans, and new memories, those who loved her are now left facing the unbearable reality of saying goodbye.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, the crash occurred around 3:30 p.m. when a Kenworth tractor-trailer collided with the Nissan Kicks Angelina was driving. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The details of a tragedy can never truly explain the emptiness left behind. Behind every headline is a person who mattered — someone whose presence brought meaning to the lives around her, someone whose smile, voice, kindness, and memories will never be replaced.

The crash happened around 1:55 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 280 and Alabama 76, about one mile west of Childersburg. Holmes was driving a Toyota Highlander when his vehicle was struck by a Lincoln Navigator driven by 59-year-old Sidney Tankersley of Sylacauga. Holmes was taken to Coosa Valley Medical Center, where, despite efforts to save him, he later passed away.

Tankersley was also injured and transported to UAB Hospital in Birmingham. Authorities continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

But beyond the roadway, the vehicles, and the investigation was a human life—a man who had lived 83 years filled with moments, memories, conversations, challenges, and joys. A lifetime cannot be measured by a headline or a few lines in a report.

Lars’s life was defined by service and dedication. Born and raised in Lakeport, he graduated from Clear Lake High School in 1995 before earning a civil engineering degree from the United States Air Force Academy. He proudly served five years as an Air Force civil engineering officer, reaching the rank of captain, before returning home to devote years of his life to Lake County.

From his work as Public Services director to his leadership of the consolidated Public Works Department, Lars dedicated himself to helping build, maintain, and serve the community he called home.

His passing came just one day after his unexpected resignation from the county, a circumstance that has understandably left many with questions. Yet those unanswered questions should never overshadow the human being behind the title—the father, husband, veteran, engineer, colleague, and friend whose life touched so many.

Now, five children and a grieving family must face a world suddenly changed. No words can truly ease such pain. But memories remain—quiet reminders of a life that mattered, a life of purpose, courage, and service.
