On September 12, 2026, the Kennewick community was left with a heartbreaking loss when 36-year-old Lyle H. Mineer III of Kennewick, Washington, lost his life in a tragic motorcycle collision on State Route 397 in Benton County.
According to authorities, Lyle was riding his dark blue Victory Cross motorcycle southbound when a northbound vehicle attempted to make a left turn and failed to yield the right of way. The collision brought a sudden and devastating end to a life that still had so many roads left to travel. Lyle was pronounced deceased at the scene. His passenger, 22-year-old Laurana R. Hechinger-Vantine, was injured and transported to the hospital.
