Β Three Lives Forever Remembered After the I-68 Tragedy.πŸ’”πŸ•ŠοΈ

With hearts shattered by an unimaginable loss, we remember John Welin, 79, of Roscoe, Illinois; Karen Berneck, 81, of Roscoe, Illinois; and Thomas Stevao, 25, of Centreville, Virginia, three precious lives taken far too soon in a devastating head-on collision on Interstate 68 in Maryland. Their names now carry a painful weight for the families, friends, and communities left behind, but may they also forever carry the love and memories of the lives they touched.

The heartbreaking crash happened Sunday on I-68 near Maryland Route 36. According to the preliminary investigation, a Subaru Forester traveling westbound crossed the grass median for reasons that remain unknown and entered the eastbound lanes, where it collided head-on with a Volkswagen Tiguan.

John Welin, the driver of the Subaru, and Karen Berneck, his passenger, were both pronounced deceased at the scene. Their journey ended together, leaving behind a silence that words can never truly fill. Thomas Stevao, a passenger in the Volkswagen, also tragically lost his life.

Three people. Three stories. Three lives filled with moments, memories, laughter, hopes, and dreams that mattered deeply to someone. In an instant, those lives became memories, and families were left facing the unbearable reality of saying goodbye.

The Volkswagen driver, Patrick Kaczmarek, 25, of Clifton, Virginia, was flown to a local trauma center for treatment of his injuries. Another passenger, Jacqueline Durham, 25, of Clifton, Virginia, was transported to a local hospital. We pray for their healing and strength in the days ahead.

As investigators continue working to understand what happened, may we pause to remember the human beings behind this tragedyβ€”not simply as names in a report, but as beloved people whose presence mattered.

May John, Karen, and Thomas rest peacefully beneath eternal light. May their families find comfort in cherished memories, strength through the darkest days, and peace that slowly comes with time.

Gone from this world, but never from the hearts that loved them. πŸ•ŠοΈπŸ’”

Please keep their families, friends, and all those affected by this tragedy in your thoughts and prayers.
