In Loving Memory of Jaime R. Wesson, Artesia Mourns a Life Lost in a Tragic Collision.

 

With profound sadness, the Artesia community remembers Jaime R. Wesson, 51, a local resident whose life was tragically cut short following a two-vehicle collision at the intersection of U.S. Highway 285 and 26th Street in Artesia, New Mexico, on Saturday, August 15, 2026.

 

According to authorities, deputies with the Eddy County Sheriff’s Office, emergency personnel, and members of the department’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit responded to the scene at approximately 4:28 p.m. The crash left a community grieving and a family facing the unimaginable pain of losing someone they loved.

 

Sheriff Matthew Hutchinson identified Wesson as the victim and confirmed that next of kin had been notified. As investigators continue working to understand what happened, the exact circumstances and any contributing factors remain under investigation.
