In Loving Memory of Katherine and James Trask, A Life Together Remembered With Love.
The Big Lake community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Katherine Yvonne Trask, 71, and James Emery Jr. Trask, 73, who died following a tragic collision on State Highway 137 in Glasscock County, Texas, on August 11, 2026.
According to authorities, the couple was traveling northbound in a 2016 Toyota 4Runner when their vehicle was struck from behind by a Grove Crane construction vehicle. The construction vehicle was being driven by 28-year-old Danny Olvera. The impact caused the Toyota to rotate across the roadway before coming to rest facing west. Katherine and James suffered life-threatening injuries and were pronounced dead at the scene.
While the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, the tragedy has left family members, friends, neighbors, and the Big Lake community facing an immeasurable loss. At 71 and 73, Katherine and James had shared many years of life, memories, experiences, and moments that will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew them.
A sudden loss like this can leave behind questions, sorrow, and an emptiness that words cannot easily describe. Yet their lives should also be remembered for the love they gave, the relationships they built, and the memories they created throughout their years together.
