Dover was working as a sanitation worker when the heartbreaking incident occurred. According to the Cherokee County Coroner’s Office, he was riding on the rear platform of a garbage truck at approximately 1:50 p.m. when he fell onto the pavement as the vehicle made a turn.
He was transported to Spartanburg Medical Center, where medical professionals worked to treat his severe injuries. Despite those efforts, his injuries were ultimately too serious, and he passed away.
Perhaps one of the most painful aspects of this tragedy is that Dover was reportedly on his first day on the job. What should have been the beginning of a new chapter filled with opportunity and hope instead became a devastating loss for everyone who knew and loved him.
