With hearts shattered by unimaginable sorrow, we remember Roger Gregory Cummings, 63, of Oklahoma, whose life was tragically taken in a heartbreaking late-night crash in rural Stephens County on Wednesday, September 2. Roger was driving near Marlow when his vehicle encountered a group of approximately ten feral hogs crossing the roadway. After striking the animals, he lost control, left the road, entered a ditch, and struck a fence. The vehicle eventually overturned, leaving Roger fatally trapped beneath it. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
But behind this tragic accident was a man whose life meant so much more than the circumstances of his final moments. Roger devoted more than 40 years to Marlow Lumber Company, becoming not simply an employee, but a cherished member of the company family before retiring earlier this year. Those who knew him will remember his years of hard work, his presence, and the memories he quietly created along the way.
Perhaps the deepest heartbreak is knowing that Roger and his beloved wife, Sonya, had celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary in June. Forty years of love, companionship, laughter, struggles, dreams, and shared memories—then suddenly, a future that should have held many more chapters was taken away.
