It is with profound sadness that we remember Derrick Jason Brousseau, 53, of Pacolet, South Carolina, and Deeann Annette Dyer, 47, of Lewiston, Maine, who tragically lost their lives in a two-vehicle crash near Bridgewater, South Dakota, on Monday, August 17, 2026.

The fatal collision happened at approximately 1:21 a.m. on Interstate 90 near mile marker 354, about five miles northeast of Bridgewater in McCook County. According to preliminary information, Brousseau was traveling westbound on a 2003 Harley-Davidson FXDWG Anniversary motorcycle with Dyer as his passenger. At the same time, a 2016 Volvo semi-truck driven by 30-year-old Zarifjon Korakulov of Brooklyn, New York, was traveling westbound along the same stretch of highway.

Authorities said the Volvo collided with the rear of the Harley-Davidson. Brousseau and Dyer suffered fatal injuries in the devastating crash. Neither was wearing a helmet, according to the preliminary report. Korakulov was not injured, and authorities reported that he was wearing a seat belt.

Behind the details of this heartbreaking tragedy are two lives that mattered deeply to their families, friends and loved ones. Derrick and Deeann will be remembered not simply as victims of a tragic crash, but as individuals whose lives, memories and presence touched those around them.

As their loved ones face the pain of such a sudden loss, may they find comfort in the memories shared, the moments cherished and the love that remains.
