Justin Milliken: A Life of Service, Family, and Community Remembered.
The St. Johns community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Justin Milliken, a father, business owner, former Army officer, and familiar face behind Grumpy’s Restaurant, whose life came to an unexpected end Wednesday morning.
Milliken was found dead at the St. Johns location of Grumpy’s Restaurant, which he co-owned with his wife, Leah. Authorities responded to the restaurant on County Road 210, and the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office said there was no indication of foul play.
Just one day before his passing, Justin shared a photograph of himself smiling beside a pool—a simple moment that now carries a profound weight. Sometimes, an ordinary photograph becomes a treasured memory, preserving a smile that loved ones will forever wish they could see again.
Justin and Leah brought Grumpy’s to St. Johns County in 2021, hoping to create more than a restaurant. They wanted a welcoming gathering place where families, friends, and neighbors could share meals and moments together. Over time, the restaurant became a beloved neighborhood destination and a place where Justin worked alongside a team he proudly celebrated.
His journey also reflected years of service and dedication. He previously served as a U.S. Army officer and later built a lengthy career in medical-device sales and management before entering the restaurant business.
Behind all those accomplishments was a father and husband whose absence will now be deeply felt.
