A Life Gone Too Soon.
In loving memory of Bruce Runels, 61, whose life was tragically taken Wednesday morning, September 9, 2026, after he was struck by a vehicle in Midland, leaving behind a heartbreaking silence where a life once continued.
At approximately 6:56 a.m., Midland police and fire crews responded to the 400 block of East Front Street following a devastating pedestrian crash. According to authorities, a 2018 Honda Civic was traveling westbound on Front Street when Bruce, who was walking northbound across the roadway, entered the vehicle’s path and was struck. The location did not have a designated crosswalk.
Despite the efforts that followed, Bruce suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene. In only a few moments, an ordinary Wednesday morning became a moment of unimaginable loss—a reminder of how suddenly life can change and how precious every passing day truly is.
Bruce’s story is now marked by the tragedy of a life that ended far too soon. Though the circumstances surrounding the crash remain under investigation, his name deserves to be remembered not simply as part of a traffic report, but as a human life that mattered.
May the memory of Bruce Runels endure beyond the heartbreaking circumstances of his passing. May every person who knew of him carry a quiet thought of remembrance, and may those grieving find strength in the memories that remain.
Some lives leave this world too soon, but their names can continue to be spoken, remembered, and honored. Rest peacefully, Bruce. May you never be forgotten.
