A Heartbreaking Goodbye, Ronald Wright’s Life Remembered After Tragic US 20 Crash.
ASHTABULA COUNTY, OHIO — Hearts are heavy across the community as family and friends mourn the devastating loss of Ronald Wright, 72, of Geneva, who tragically died following a two-vehicle collision on US 20 in Saybrook Township on August 27, 2026. His sudden passing has created an immeasurable void for those who knew and loved him, leaving cherished memories behind as loved ones struggle to come to terms with a heartbreaking goodbye that came far too soon.
According to preliminary information from the Ohio State Highway Patrol, Wright was driving a 1959 Chevrolet Apache westbound on US 20 when it was struck head-on by a 2016 Jeep Patriot traveling eastbound. Investigators said the Jeep crossed the center line before colliding with Wright’s vehicle in the westbound lane.
Emergency medical personnel pronounced Ronald Wright deceased at the scene. Despite the efforts of first responders, his life could not be saved. Behind the details of the crash is a family now forced to face an unimaginable goodbye and a community remembering a life that mattered deeply.
The driver of the Jeep, 49-year-old Wendy Tobin of Williamsfield, suffered serious, life-threatening injuries. She was transported to University Hospitals Geneva Medical Center before being flown to University Hospitals Cleveland Medical Center.
Troopers were assisted by the Ashtabula County Sheriff’s Office, Saybrook Township Fire & EMS, the Ohio Department of Transportation, and the Ashtabula County Coroner’s Office.
