Larry Berry’s name is now tied to a heartbreaking tragedy that claimed the life of the mother of his children and left two young children at the center of a desperate search for safety. The woman, whose identity had not been publicly released, was found fatally shot Thursday morning at the Trinity Lakes Apartments in Cordova. Authorities say Berry was wanted in connection with her death before he was later found critically wounded in a wooded area of Marks, Mississippi, nearly 90 miles away. He was transported to a hospital but sadly did not survive.

The tragedy began around 7:30 a.m., when Memphis police responded to a shooting call at the apartment complex. Officers discovered the woman suffering from a gunshot wound, and she was pronounced dead at the scene. Her death has left loved ones, neighbors and the community struggling to understand how a life could be taken so suddenly.

What makes the tragedy even more painful is that her two children were reportedly missing following the shooting. Investigators determined that their father had taken them in a black Mercedes sedan. Thankfully, the children were later located safe at a residence in Robinsonville, Mississippi, bringing a moment of relief amid an otherwise devastating day.

As the investigation unfolded, multiple law enforcement agencies joined the search for Berry. He was eventually found in a wooded area and taken to a local hospital, where he died from his injuries.
