A Life Silenced Beneath the River’s Quiet Waters.
On September 11, 2026, a heartbreaking tragedy unfolded along the Colorado River in Bullhead City, Arizona, as Melissa Marie Miley, 55, of Bullhead City, lost her life after entering the river and failing to resurface.
At approximately 8:20 that morning, Bullhead City Police responded to the 600 block of Highway 95 after a report that a woman had entered the water. Surveillance footage showed Melissa parking her vehicle, leaving the engine running, and walking into the river fully clothed. What followed was a desperate search involving police, a patrol boat, dive team, Water Rescue & Safety personnel, personal watercraft, and assistance from a local media drone.
For nearly three hours, hope remained suspended over the water. Then, a witness reported seeing a body floating near the 1200 block of Riverfront Drive. Melissa was recovered from the river and pronounced deceased.
The circumstances surrounding why she entered the water remain unknown, and authorities said no foul play is suspected at this time.
Some losses arrive without warning and leave behind questions that may never have answers. The river continued to move that day, but for those who knew Melissa, time seemed to stand still.
May her memory be remembered with compassion, dignity, and peace. May the silence she left behind be softened by the memories of the life she lived.
Rest peacefully, Melissa Marie Miley. May you forever be remembered. 🕊️🕯️
