A Mother and Daughter Forever Remembered.
The heartbreaking loss of Shamima Begum, 46, and her daughter, Areebah Jahin, 23, has left a family and community facing an unimaginable sorrow. A mother and daughter who should have had many more years of memories, laughter, conversations, celebrations, and ordinary moments together were suddenly taken from this world in a devastating crash on I-270 in Bethesda, Maryland.
According to Maryland State Police, the tragedy happened Saturday evening when a Ford Mustang traveling in the wrong direction on southbound I-270 collided head-on with the Toyota in which Shamima and Areebah were passengers. Both were pronounced dead at the scene. Their lives ended far too soon, leaving behind loved ones who must now learn how to live with an absence that words can never truly describe.
Shamima was not simply a name in a tragic report. She was a mother, a loved one, and a person whose presence brought meaning to the lives around her. Areebah, at just 23 years old, had so much of her life still ahead of her—dreams to pursue, memories to make, and moments that will now remain only in the hearts of those who loved her.
The pain of losing a mother and daughter together is beyond measure. Their family will forever carry the memories of their voices, smiles, kindness, and love.
May Shamima and Areebah rest peacefully. May their family find strength in the beautiful memories they shared, and may their names never be forgotten. Gone from sight, but forever cherished in the hearts of those who loved them. 🕊️❤️
