The Opelousas community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Lee Malveaux, 46, of Opelousas, Louisiana, whose life was tragically taken in a pedestrian crash on Interstate 49 North near U.S. Highway 190 on Sunday evening.
Shortly after 8:30 p.m., a devastating collision occurred that left Lee fatally injured. According to authorities, Lee was struck by a 2024 Nissan Pathfinder while attempting to cross the northbound lanes of I-49. Despite the tragedy that unfolded, nothing can prepare a family for the unimaginable moment when a loved one is suddenly taken away.
Lee passed away at the scene, leaving behind a silence that words can never truly fill. A life that held memories, relationships, hopes, dreams, and countless moments with loved ones has now become a cherished memory that those who knew Lee will carry forever.
