At approximately 3:33 a.m., the Emporia Police Department responded to the intersection of South Main Street and Battery Avenue after Keon was struck by a vehicle. Despite the emergency response, he was pronounced deceased at the scene. His loved ones were notified, and a community was left mourning a life that should have continued for many more years.
Behind the heartbreaking news was a human being with memories, relationships, dreams, laughter, and a place in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. No investigation can measure the emptiness left behind when someone is suddenly taken away.
