Woman Dies as 19-Year-Old Suspect Is Arrested.

A tragic shooting in Great Bend, Kansas, has left a woman dead and resulted in the arrest of 19-year-old Keegan Martens as authorities continue investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

According to the Great Bend Police Department, officers were dispatched around 12:30 a.m. Saturday to the 1400 block of Lakin Avenue after receiving a 911 hang-up call. When officers arrived, they were informed that someone had reportedly been shot in the backyard of the home.

Officers searched the area and discovered a woman who had died from an apparent gunshot wound. The scene was subsequently treated as a serious criminal investigation as authorities worked to determine exactly what led to the shooting.

During the investigation, police identified Martens as the suspect. Authorities said the 19-year-old had already fled the scene before officers arrived. Investigators continued searching for him, eventually locating him in Salina, Kansas, where he was taken into custody.

Martens was later transported to the Barton County Jail, where police said he remained in custody as the investigation continued.
