Joshua Martin, Billy Gouge, Anthony Gouge and Anthony Young Remembered After Tragic Florida Crash.
The heartbreaking loss of Joshua Martin, Billy Gouge, Anthony Gouge, and Anthony Young has left a painful silence following a devastating Florida crash that turned a weekend of softball, competition, and championship dreams into unimaginable tragedy. Joshua Martin, 33, passed away Monday afternoon after the collision, while Billy and Anthony Gouge, who were cousins, were also among those whose lives were tragically taken. Anthony Young was another member of the team lost in the devastating crash, leaving families, teammates, and a community to grieve.
The Xtreme Associates Harper’s-Miken softball team had traveled to Florida for the World Series, carrying the hopes and excitement that come with competing on a big stage. They had already celebrated one victory before Friday night brought a loss on the field. Yet that loss would soon become insignificant compared with the tragedy that followed.
Authorities said a driver reportedly ran a stop sign and struck the team’s minivan. Five team members were inside, and all were wearing seat belts. In moments, lives were changed forever.
What followed was confusion, grief, and heartbreak. Families were left facing an emptiness no words can truly describe, while children were suddenly left without loved ones who were supposed to come home.
Now, a grieving community is surrounding the families with prayers, fundraisers, memorial wristbands, and T-shirts, doing whatever possible to ease the burden of funeral expenses and show that these lives mattered.
Their names may never again be called from a lineup or celebrated on a scoreboard, but their memories will remain part of the story of those who knew and loved them.
May Joshua Martin, Billy Gouge, Anthony Gouge, and Anthony Young rest peacefully. Gone far too soon, remembered forever. 🕊️💔
