Today, we pause with heavy hearts to remember 47-year-old Rafael Adalberto Olague, whose life was tragically cut short following a devastating motorcycle crash in Laredo, Texas. Behind the heartbreaking headlines was a human being with a story, memories, loved ones, dreams, and a place in the hearts of those who knew him.
According to preliminary information, Rafael was traveling along Bob Bullock Loop when his motorcycle struck a concrete divider near the 1400 block of Hospitality Drive, ejecting him onto the roadway. A GMC Yukon traveling along Loop 20 subsequently struck him. Rafael was rushed to a hospital with life-threatening injuries, but despite efforts to save him, he sadly passed away.
Some losses are impossible to put into words. One moment, someone is here—living, moving, laughing, making memories—and then suddenly, everything changes. The road that carried Rafael on his final journey became the place where a family’s world was forever altered.
Tonight, may we remember Rafael not only for the tragedy that took his life, but for the life he lived. May the memories he created continue to speak his name when his loved ones cannot bear the silence.
