William Huene, 47, and Chase Splan, 32, are remembered among those whose lives were tragically taken in a plane crash near Sierra Sky Park in 2016. The sheriff’s office identified Huene as the pilot. Now, a decade later, the same area has become the scene of another heartbreaking aviation tragedy, as two children lost their lives in a plane crash in northwest Fresno on Saturday, September 5, 2026.
It is difficult to comprehend the pain left behind when lives are suddenly taken from the people who love them. Behind every name is a family, a story, a lifetime of memories, and people who never imagined they would one day have to say goodbye.
William and Chase were taken far too soon in 2016. Now, two young lives have been added to the sorrow surrounding this location, leaving families facing an unimaginable emptiness.
