It is with profound sadness that we remember Alexander D. Morelli, 23, of Meadville, Pennsylvania, and Doug A. Griffith, 51, of Massena, New York, whose lives were tragically taken following a devastating two-vehicle collision on Route 430 in the Town of Chautauqua.

The heartbreaking crash occurred at approximately 3:40 p.m. Thursday. According to the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, Alexander was traveling eastbound when his vehicle crossed the double solid center line and entered the path of Doug’s westbound vehicle. The resulting collision claimed both lives at the scene.

Alexander, at only 23 years old, had so much life ahead of him. His passing represents dreams left unfinished, opportunities never reached, and countless memories that will now be treasured by those who knew and loved him. His family and friends will forever remember his presence and the moments they shared.

Doug, 51, also leaves behind a lifetime of memories and relationships. His sudden passing has created an immeasurable emptiness for the people who knew him as a loved one, friend, coworker, or cherished member of their community.

Emergency responders worked at the scene, including members of the Chautauqua County Sheriff’s Office, North Lake Fire Department, Sherman Fire Department, and Chautauqua County EMS. Despite their efforts, neither man survived the devastating crash.
