Remembering Miguel A. Collado, Gone But Never Forgotten.
With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we remember Miguel A. Collado, 65, of Rocky Hill, Connecticut, whose life was tragically taken Sunday evening, leaving behind a community grieving the loss of a familiar and gentle presence.
Miguel was more than a name in a heartbreaking news story. To those who saw him around town, he was a quiet, kind soul who went about his days collecting bottles and cans. One neighbor remembered him as “the nicest guy in the world,” someone who never hurt anybody and simply lived his life with humility and purpose. His reflective vest and familiar cart had become part of the landscape of Rocky Hill—a small, everyday presence that many may have taken for granted until he was suddenly gone.
On September 6, tragedy unfolded along Glastonbury Avenue when Miguel was struck by a vehicle. He was transported to the hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. The circumstances surrounding the crash have left many hearts broken and raised painful reminders about the devastating consequences of impaired driving.
Today, we pause not to remember the tragedy alone, but to remember Miguel—the person, the neighbor, the human being whose life mattered.
