Remembering John Foriest, Whose Journey Ended Far Too Soon.

With heavy hearts and tears that words can hardly express, we remember John Foriest, 76, whose life came to a heartbreaking end in a tragic crash early Sunday morning in Martin County, North Carolina.

John was being transported in an East Care Medical Transport ambulance when tragedy struck along N.C. 11 near Council Road. Around 1:49 a.m., the ambulance veered from the roadway, struck a ditch culvert, and overturned multiple times before coming to rest. Despite the efforts at the scene, John suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead.

In an instant, a family’s world was changed forever. A life filled with memories, conversations, kindness, laughter, and countless moments became a precious collection of memories that loved ones will now carry in their hearts.

At 76, John had traveled through many seasons of life. He leaves behind more than a name—they are memories, stories, photographs, familiar smiles, and the quiet moments that become even more precious when someone is gone.

Another person aboard the ambulance, nurse Emma Pridgen, was injured but suffered injuries that were not considered life-threatening. The ambulance driver, 29-year-old Lauren Nicole McFadden, was charged with misdemeanor death by vehicle following the preliminary investigation.

Tonight, may those who loved John find strength in one another and comfort in remembering the life he lived. Though his journey ended unexpectedly, the love he gave and the memories he created will never disappear.

Rest peacefully, John Foriest. May your memory forever remain a light in the hearts of those who knew and loved you. 🕊️💔
