In Loving Memory of Cletus Mitchell, Okemah Man Dies Following Tragic Four-Wheeler Crash.
With profound sadness, we remember Cletus Mitchell, 76, of Okemah, Oklahoma, who tragically lost his life following a four-wheeler crash in Okfuskee County. Mitchell’s passing has left family, friends, and members of the community mourning the loss of a life that meant so much to those who knew and loved him.
According to the Oklahoma Highway Patrol, the heartbreaking incident occurred at approximately 10:29 a.m. near 10864 Highway 48. Mitchell was traveling north along the east shoulder of Highway 48 when he reportedly lost control of the four-wheeler and was ejected.
Emergency medical services responded to the scene and transported Mitchell to Creek Nation Hospital, where medical personnel worked to treat the injuries he sustained in the crash. Sadly, despite those efforts, Mitchell later passed away from his injuries. Authorities have confirmed that his next of kin has been notified.
The tragedy also led to a temporary closure of Highway 48 as authorities responded to the crash and investigated what happened.
