In Loving Memory of Kenneth Daniels, A Life Remembered With Love and Gratitude.

With profound sadness, the family, friends, neighbors, and community of Westcliffe mourn the passing of Kenneth Daniels, 75, who died on August 15, 2026, after suffering serious injuries in a single-vehicle crash on Highway 96 in Custer County. Kenneth was the lone occupant of the vehicle when the crash occurred near mile marker 7.9 on August 11.

Before emergency crews arrived, two compassionate Good Samaritans—a former paramedic and an off-duty nurse—stopped to help Kenneth and immediately provided assistance. Their selfless actions reflected the kindness and humanity that can emerge during the most difficult moments.

Custer County Sheriff’s deputies, Wet Mountain Fire, and Deer Mountain Fire/Ambulance responded to the scene, while Kenneth was later transported by air to a trauma center in Colorado Springs. Despite the determined efforts of the Good Samaritans, first responders, and medical professionals, Kenneth sadly succumbed to his injuries several days later.

The Colorado State Patrol determined that Kenneth may have experienced a medical emergency while driving, causing his vehicle to leave the roadway. He was wearing his seatbelt at the time of the crash.

Kenneth’s passing leaves behind a profound sense of loss for everyone who knew and cared for him. His memory will live on through the people whose lives he touched, the moments they shared, and the memories that will remain forever.

During this difficult time, may the Daniels family find strength, comfort, and peace in the love surrounding them. May Kenneth Daniels be remembered not only for the circumstances of his passing, but for the life he lived and the memories he leaves behind.

Rest in peace, Kenneth Daniels. Your memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved you. 💙
