Rose, 29, of Chicago, died after a shooting at a Harold’s Chicken restaurant in Robbins, Illinois, that also left Robbins Mayor Darren Bryant and another 29-year-old man with non-life-threatening injuries. The violent incident unfolded as residents gathered at the restaurant, turning what had been a routine evening into a tragic scene.

According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Rose entered the Harold’s Chicken restaurant in the 13700 block of South Claire Boulevard and began firing a weapon. A security officer contracted by the restaurant subsequently shot Rose. He was transported to an area hospital for medical treatment, but he later died from his injuries.

Village spokesperson Sean Howard said Mayor Bryant was inside the restaurant when the shooting occurred but was not the intended target. Bryant was reportedly in the back of the establishment when gunfire erupted toward the front. Despite being wounded by a grazing bullet, the mayor reportedly focused on helping protect other patrons during the chaotic incident.

The village described the shooting as an isolated act of violence, while the Cook County Sheriff’s Office continues investigating the circumstances surrounding the confrontation and Rose’s death.

Investigators said a verbal dispute reportedly broke out before gunfire erupted. Hartzog was struck by a bullet in the back, while a 34-year-old man suffered a gunshot wound to the abdomen.

Emergency medical personnel rushed Hartzog to Brookdale Hospital, but despite efforts to save her, she was pronounced dead. The injured man was transported to Kings County Hospital and was reported to be in stable condition.

Police said surveillance footage appeared to show a black vehicle circling the block around the time of the shooting. Residents reported hearing numerous gunshots during the chaotic incident, while investigators continued working to determine what led to the confrontation and who was responsible.

Nathaniel was more than a student; he was a talented football player, dedicated track athlete and gifted singer whose presence brought energy, kindness and joy to those around him.

According to the Fillmore County Sheriff’s Office, deputies responded to an ATV crash on private property east of Fountain at approximately 2:15 p.m. Saturday. Nathaniel was found unresponsive at the scene and was flown to St. Mary’s Hospital in Rochester, where he was later pronounced dead.

His passing has left his family, friends, classmates, teammates, teachers and the wider Kingsland community facing an unimaginable loss. Nathaniel had also earned recognition as a member of the 2026–27 MMEA All-State Honors Choir, highlighting his remarkable musical talent and dedication.

A prayer vigil was planned at St. Ignatius Catholic Church in Spring Valley, offering loved ones and community members a place to gather, pray and remember a young life gone far too soon. The timing carries an especially painful significance, as Monday would have been Nathaniel’s golden birthday.

Kingsland School District officials have pledged to support students and staff while honoring Nathaniel’s legacy in the days and months ahead.

Nathaniel’s journey was tragically short, but the memories he created will remain. His accomplishments, friendships, music, athletic spirit and the love he shared with others will forever be part of the community that knew him.

In loving memory of Corey Shetler of Dillonvale, a 29-year-old man whose life was tragically cut short following a serious crash in Smithfield Township, Jefferson County, Ohio. Corey was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the collision and sadly succumbed to his injuries at approximately 9:38 p.m. Sunday.

According to the Ohio State Highway Patrol’s Steubenville Post, the crash occurred around 8:22 p.m. on County Road 10, approximately 0.2 miles west of State Route 152. Investigators said a Chevrolet Cavalier was traveling westbound and approaching a right-hand curve when a Chevrolet Silverado traveling eastbound failed to negotiate a left curve.

The Silverado reportedly left the roadway, overcorrected, crossed the centerline and entered the opposite lane. The right side of the pickup then struck the right-front portion of the Cavalier. The Silverado continued off the roadway into a ditch, while the Cavalier remained in the westbound lane and partially off the road.

Authorities identified alcohol as a contributing factor in the crash. The investigation remains ongoing.

Corey’s passing is a heartbreaking loss for his family, friends, and everyone who knew him. Behind every tragic accident is a person whose life mattered, whose presence brought memories and whose absence leaves an irreplaceable void.

M9 Motorway Tragedy, Alex, Jeremy and Joey McCarthy Among Five Teenagers Killed in Horrific Crash.

Alex McCarthy, Jeremy McCarthy and Joey McCarthy are being remembered among five teenagers who tragically lost their lives in a devastating collision on the M9 motorway near Moone, County Kildare, Ireland, on Sunday, August 16, 2026. Gardaí confirmed that five teenagers travelling in a BMW were killed when the vehicle, travelling in the wrong direction on the motorway, crashed head-on into a Hyundai carrying four people.

The heartbreaking collision happened shortly after 3 a.m. between Junction 3 and Junction 4. Emergency services were alerted after reports that a vehicle was travelling southbound on the northbound carriageway. The BMW then collided with the Hyundai, resulting in catastrophic damage and the deaths of all five teenagers inside the BMW.

The victims’ bodies were removed from the scene and taken to Naas General Hospital, where post-mortem examinations were expected to take place. At the time of the investigation, authorities were working to formally establish the identities of those who died and notify their families.

The Hyundai was carrying three adult women and a seven-year-old child who were reportedly travelling toward Dublin Airport. All four occupants survived but suffered serious injuries. Two women in their 30s were taken to Tallaght University Hospital in critical condition. A woman in her 20s was taken to St Luke’s General Hospital in Kilkenny with serious injuries, while the child was brought to Children’s Health Ireland at Crumlin.

Gardaí said the BMW had failed to stop for Gardaí before entering the motorway in the wrong direction. Because there had been Garda contact with the vehicle before the fatal crash, the incident was referred to Fiosrú, Ireland’s independent police watchdog. An investigator attended the scene as part of the independent investigation.

The M9 was closed between Junctions 3 and 4 while Garda forensic collision investigators examined the scene. Gardaí also appealed to motorists who travelled on the M9 between approximately 2 a.m. and 3 a.m. to provide dashcam footage or information that could assist the investigation.

Garda Commissioner Justin Kelly described the collision as horrific and condemned dangerous wrong-way driving, warning about the devastating consequences such behaviour can have on innocent road users.

The tragedy has left families, friends and communities mourning five young lives taken far too soon.

The Ferriday community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Jeremy B. Tarver, 47, who died following a serious traffic crash on U.S. Highway 84 at Persimmon Hill Road in Concordia Parish, Louisiana, on August 16.

According to Louisiana State Police, Tarver was traveling westbound on U.S. Highway 84 at approximately 10 a.m. when his vehicle crossed into the eastbound lane. His vehicle then collided with the trailer of a commercial vehicle transporting an oversized load that had been properly permitted by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development.

Tarver suffered severe injuries in the collision. Emergency responders transported him to a local hospital for treatment, but despite medical efforts, he later passed away from the injuries he sustained. The driver of the commercial vehicle was not injured in the crash.

Despite medical efforts, she sadly succumbed to her injuries. Her family later identified her as Reyna Cara.
